DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work Planning and Coordination:
- Assist in the efficient management of metrology activities to ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
- Maintain and update a centralized database of all weighing and measuring devices used in trade and services.
- Assist in implementing schedules for the verification and calibration of measuring devices.
Specific Tasks
- Verification and Calibration:
- Assist in the proof of pattern approval, verification, calibration of weighing and measuring devices used in trade, health and safety, public utilities, environment, official activities, engineering or any other field across the island.
- Conduct field inspections and execute weights and measures fieldwork as required.
- Inspection and Compliance:
- Support the inspection of weights and measurement instruments to ensure compliance with metrology regulations, under the guidance of the Metrology Officer or HOD.
- Ensure all metrology activities adhere to policies, procedures, and standards outlined in approved quality manuals and international best practices.
- Assist with the adjustment of National Standards and Working Standards as needed, ensuring their accuracy and reliability.
- Procedural Development:
- Assist in the development and implementation of operational and quality procedures to enhance departmental efficiency and compliance.
- Assist in the preparation of Calibration Certificates
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of procedures, recommending improvements as needed.
- Audit and Corrective Actions:
- Support internal audits and assist in implementing corrective actions to address identified gaps or non-conformities as required
- Ensure all client records, physical/electronic are accurate, consistent, and up to date in carrying out your duties.
- General Duties:
- Perform other related duties within scope assigned by the Metrology Officer or Head of Department, as required from time to time.

- Outdoor work
- Physical Effort (lift, climb, push, pull). Must be capable of doing moderate to heavy lifting.
- Working environment – Outdoor work with very low physical comfort and very high exposure to hazardous materials.

JOB SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
Education & Certification
- A minimum of 5 CXC or GCE subjects with Mathematics, English and Physics at Grades I-III
- Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Outlook
Professional Training:
Work Experience:
- Two (2) months of job placement/ attachment experience.
