The CARICOM Regional Organization for Standards and Quality (CROSQ) in collaboration with the Saint Lucia Bureau of Standards will be hosting a half- day information session on the establishment of an energy efficiency labelling scheme.
The labelling scheme will introduce minimum energy performance standards for lighting (CFLs and LEDs), refrigerators and air conditioners, and will explore the development and/or strengthening of a testing scheme for these appliances, beginning in a few countries and eventually expanding across CARICOM.
The session will give an introduction to the project and particularly labelling scheme– why it is being undertaken and the various requirements of the scheme. It will explain the information to be contained in the labels and how they should be read both by retailers and the general public; how they should be affixed to or near the appliances. Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions and get feedback on what elements should be displayed for public information.
The theme is “Protection of the Consumer – Support the Energy Labelling Scheme for energy-efficient equipment and appliances.”
The consultation is taking place at the Saint Lucia Bureau of Standards on Monday 22nd October, 2018 from 9:00 am to 3:30 p.m.
