The Saint Lucia Bureau of Standards (SLBS) invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of:



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or Business Management from a recognized institution plus at least five years of progressive post qualification experience.
  • Familiarity with efficient industrial relations and negotiation practices is required.
    Outstanding knowledge of MS Office; HRIS systems.
  • Must have a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in Human Resource Management.
  • Exceptional recruiting and employee retention skills.
  • Exceptional organization skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including phone and e-mail etiquette.
    Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent presentation and computer skills and knowledge of MS Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Key characteristics: organized, energetic, persuasive, dependable, good listener, professional, attention to detail and collaborative spirit.

Key Duties:
1. Assesses organizational performance against the organizational strategic plans. Develops tools and systems to provide critical information to the Director to make actionable recommendations.

2. To ensure proper execution of personnel actions, e.g. appointments, promotions, job abolishment, position audits, employee grievances; for employee and labour relations decisions; for administration of SLBS’s classification plan; for administration of
employee benefits; and for human resource development.

3. Employment and Recruitment – Provide and manage the application process to expedite hiring and attract qualified candidates from culturally diverse applicant pools. Conduct various new hire and promotional assessment exams. Assist in the selection and
placement of new hires.

4. Employee Development and Training – Coordinate and administer employee training, including harassment, customer service, communication, general supervisory principles, and various other topics.

5. Manage employee performance evaluation system and ensure that all employees are evaluated on an annual base.

6. Records Management – Maintain complete and accurate records regarding each employee and position, to comply with legal requirements regarding retention and release of personnel records, and to preserve the confidentiality of personnel records.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service
Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
